The rules
5 steps.
- You are dealt five cards and one is turned face up.
- Play a card matching the suit or the number on the pile.
- A seven makes the next player take two — unless they play a seven back.
- An eight skips the next player. A jack goes anywhere and names the suit.
- Say "last card" on one, and go out to win the round.
What the phone does
The phone stacks the sevens up for you and works out who owes what. It never plays a card for anyone.
It is a dealer and a scorekeeper, never a judge. It cannot hear the room and it does not decide who was right.
